I won't lie that is was easy to find a topic to write about, because writing about my country is like counting to infinity. I love travelling, so I decided to write less and show more - photos from some of my journeys.Poland is a beautiful country full of different landscapes. Thanks to that there's an infinity of amazing places to visit. My region is best known from it’s lakes which are a great substitute of the sea in hot summer season. But we also have the Baltic Sea, placed on the north. It's quite a cold sea, but it doesn't bother thousands of tourists visiting it every year, especially in summer. From December to February all country is usually covered by snow. It's the best time to visit our mountains - for example Sudetes or Carpathian Mountains - on the south. There're the best places to try snowboarding or skiing, and that’s what I love most in winter. On the photos you can also see some Polish cities, including the city where I study - Białystok.
Creeated by Katarzyna Alencewicz:
Poland is located in the centre of Europe. Exactly in the centre because the intersection point of the lines linking headlands is in Polish territory. The climate is very nice because we have winter as well as summer and I like to observe how the landscape is changing. The landscape itself is enjoyable too, because we have the Baltic Sea in the north and Tatra Moutains in the south. You can also find here a lot of lakes, especially in the north-west part of the country, where I came from.
To mention something about history, I have to say a few words about the most important document in my country - Polish Constitution, originally signed on the 3th of May 1791. It was the first constitution in Europe and second in the world, after the United States. It was the proof of our independence.
There are some famous Polish people, who I'd like to write about. Mikołaj Kopernik, the author of geocentric theory; Maria Skłodowska-Curie, a chemistry noblest who had merits in radioactivity research and of course, the Pope, blessed and soon saint - John Paul II.

Poland is home for over 38.5 mln people. History of my country is very interesting and „bloody”.
Poland became Christian country in 966. First king was Bolesław Chrobry. Poland has undergone
three partitions! Happily Poles always were courageous - they rebelled several times.
Józef Piłsudski undertook of reconstruction of Poland after I World War. Unfortunately we were
independent for only 21 years - then World War II broke out.
After the II World War was subjected to Russia. Really we became independent in 1989. Freedom was the merit of Lech Wałęsa. Now Polish president is Bronisław Komorowski. Donald Tusk is a Prime Minister.
The most famous Poles are:
1) Mikołaj Kopernik,
2) Tadeusz Kościuszko,
3) Adam Mickiewicz,
4) Fryderyk Chopin,
5) Henryk Sienkiewicz,
6) Maria Skłodowska-Curie,
7) John Paul II,
8) Andrzej Wajda,
9) Roman Polański,
10) Lech Wałęsa,
11) Adam Małysz John Paul II
The longest river in Poland is Vistula river. My country has also access to the Baltic Sea. We have mountains too (Tatra Mountains and the Sudetes). The highest peak in Poland is Rysy-2499m.
My country isn't too hot. The capital of Poland is Warsaw.
I like my country. I hope that you'll like Poland, too.

Poland is situated in the Central Europe. According to some legends, well-known here, everything started when three brothers decided to set off on journey. They were living in peace until hunger threatened them. The land wasn’t able to give enough food for great amount of their people, so Lech, Czech and Rus (how they were called) needed to move. After a long walk and facing dangerous situations, only Lech didn’t find ideal place for his family. People were already tired. But finally, they came to a beautiful, suitable place. He was still hesitating though. Suddenly, everyone saw a majestic, strong bird, returning to his nest. People were amazed by this view – white eagle during a sunset… This settled the matter. Lech decided to set up a town in that land, and called a city Gniezno (word come from “nest”).
In real, that city was the first capital.
The actual one (and third in a row) is Warsaw. It’s situated almost in the centre of Poland and it’s gone through a lot. During II World War city was almost completely destroyed, and later rebuilt from scratch. Now it’s the biggest city in Poland. There’s a lot of buildings worth attention (and traffic jams…), but actually, what I remembered best from my trip to Warsaw were flowers. It’s because of Royal “Łazienki” – a summer residence of king Stanisław August. “Łazienki” is kind of lovely park with some equally beautiful buildings. (Funny thing here is that “Łazienki” nowadays means in polish “bathrooms”… ;)
The legend I mentioned earlier picture one important matter.
Polish emblem is white eagle with a gold crown on a red background.
White symbolize purity, and red courage and love. In the photo
I attached you can see some hills. It’s pretty common view in the south
part of Poland (where I live), because it’s really close to mountains.
At the opposite site (north Poland) there is a Baltic Sea. Water is a bit
cold even in summer, but this doesn’t bother holidaymakers. In the
middle of the country we have lowlands and everything is flat. Cities
and towns show completely different view, of course, but it’s different
story…
Poland isn’t big, still there are some small difference in language
between people from other parts. It’s sometimes very funny, especially
when you say something normal and everyone is looking at you with
weird expression on their faces. I know about four ways to say
“go outside”, when only one is commonly used. (That “one” is different
for everyone though ;). And there are a lot of dialects of course, which
majority isn’t understandable for other people.
The rest of photos show autumn forest. Looking for mushrooms is very popular activity (at least if you have time in the morning – afternoons you can only find nice views, because there’s always someone who had time earlier…).

Hello everybody! J
I would like to tell you something about my country – Poland. So, Poland is a country situated in the Middle Europe. It has borders with
seven other countries: Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and small part of Russia (the Kaliningrad Oblast). From the north Poland borders with the Baltic Sea. In the south of Poland, there are Tatra Mountains and Carpathian Mountains.
In Poland the mother tongue is Polish. We use it everywhere. The colors
of the Polish flag are white and red. The Polish emblem is a white eagle with a golden beak and golden claws, wearing a golden crown. The Polish anthem is “Mazurek Dąbroswkiego”. It was written by Józef Wybicki. He was a Polish politician and novelist.
The capital of Poland is Warsaw or Warszawa in Polish. It’s the biggest city in Poland. In my opinion the prettiest city in my motherland is Wrocław. In this city you can see many monuments, old tenement houses and beautiful avenues. In a north-east region of Poland called Warmia and Masuria there are lots of lakes. The deepest of them is Hańcza (108,5meters deep) and the lake with the largest surface is Śniardwy (113,4 square meters).
The Poles are very friendly and hospital. Most of them speak English, so you can communicate with them easily. I think, Poland is a great place to visit! :D

Poland those are not only lakes, rivers, fields, but also beautiful buildings, monuments or places. It's difficult to choose which city is the most beautiful in Poland. For some, it will be Gdańsk, but for others it will be Krakow. Poland has a beautiful tradition. For Poles holidays and family are very important. The most important is Christmas Eve and Easter. Besides, we also have a delicious cuisine! Polish tables are dominated by such dishes as dumplings with cottage cheese, pork chops, salads, cakes or preserves. Poland is primarily characterized by high hospitality and respect. Polish people are very hard-working and they appreciate all.
I think that Poland is a beautiful country
and It’s worth visiting.
Feel invited! :)
